#63 The Opposite of 'Pro'gress is 'Con'gress

Some facts about those in Congress:

The Senate:
  1. There are 100 members. Actually 101 since the VP is the president of the senate. They will break the ties.

  4. 83 men, 17 women
  5. The term for a senator is 6 years with 1/3 of the group up for election every two years.
  6. 95 caucasians, 1 african-American, 3 hispanic, 1 asian-American in the senate

  8. 54 representatives are new in 2009. 377 have been re-elected at least once. John Dingall has been a representative for 55 years. Who served his term before him? His father.
Here are the results from last month's poll: Should Congressional leaders have term limits?
  • (53%) Yes! If it's good for the goose...
  • (13%) Yes, for leadership positions but not from Congress.
  • (13%) Yes, but longer than the presidents (8 years).
  • (20%) No. That is why we have elections.
The president is elected every four years and is limited with two terms. However, if the president serves less than two years of a previous president's term then they can run two more on their own accord for a maximum total of ten years. Why do things take so long to get accomplished? Most blame whoever is president. But in most cases, it is congress who holds things up. Ones who have been there the longest know exactly how to hold things up. Maybe it is time to create some term limits for the moronic intellectuals.
