#6 Liberalism is a Failure

Why doesn't Liberalism work? If all were liberal it would die off. It can't survive without Conservatism. There would be nothing for them to argue with or try and ruin for the rest of the majority. All liberals try and do is create an atmosphere that causes dissension. I used to work with a person who would argue about everything we did as a group. If we did it one way the person would argue. If we did it the exact other way, they would still argue. They say they want freedom for all yet once that freedom is established they try and ridicule those who use that freedom, especially if it goes against their belief. They want freedom of speech yet when someone speaks up on how they feel they send the ACLU after them. They want voting rights but the DNC has things called Super Delegates who possibly can over rule the will of the people in their primaries. They want human rights violators to be dealt with but when America deals with the violators they say we shouldn't get involved. They say they believe in the sanctity of human life and all should be free to make up their own minds yet support the murder of innocent babies who can't speak for themselves yet. They say they believe in the Constitution yet put their own views into what it means instead of reading exactly what it says. They say they believe in freedom yet want to set up government programs that force people into using welfare and not allow them to have a choice in a medical facility/insurance/health care company of their own choice. And then forcing other Americans who do not agree with this into paying higher taxes for these programs.

There should be rules. There should be limitations on these freedoms when it violates another human's right (when the victim can not help what has happened). But the Democratic Party can't say they care for people when the Party is filled with Liberals who are argumentative, arrogant and adulterated. Apologies to Conservative Democrats.

Actually, I am not fond of Republicans of today either. I believe the GOP has wimped out. I would prefer to vote for the Constitution Party. But until more local candidates from the Constitution Party can win, I am afraid I will vote Republican nationally, due to the reasoning that the Democratic Party has shifted so far left I can not support them (even locally). And if I voted nationally for the Constitution Party then it gives the Liberal more power. It's a shame and pathetic of me, but it's the truth.
I am a conservative, not necessarily Republican.
I appreciate your comment. Please stay around and ask more questions.

Explain to me what a conservative is. If there are conservative Democrats then why aren't they Republicans?

Good question. The answer will depend upon who you are asking. A typical conservative will believe in most of the following:

1. Sanctity of Life- stopping the act of abortion
2. Morality System- based on Judeo-Christian values
3. Preserving the Constitution- the original ideas, not the reinterpretation of it
4. Strong Military
5. Family Oriented- Nuclear family traditions
6. Market System
7. Low Taxes
8. Small government
9. Preserving American way of life.
10. Death Penalty- for heinous crimes

There are other issues of course. There will be variants of agreements. But if one disagrees with most of the above or thinks a clarification of or acceptions made to the above are needed then a conservative they will not be. Democrats can believe these things. A conservative Democrat will probably disagree about trade agreements, labor union strength, and would like to see more welfare programs. A liberal Republican would disagree about Judeo-Christian values, some might disagree about abortion and tyhe death penalty. This is why I do not call myself a Republican, but rather a Conservative. Thank you for your comment.

Are there conservative Democrats? Yes! Will they vote for Obama?
Some will, because they have been convinced that all the Dems fringe issues and Liberalism should be given a pass because promise more money in the back pocket. Others are niave and think the party is the same.

Not Joe Liberman. On Mar 30, 2008 Joe Lieberman ripped the Dems' switch to the left on ABC's This Week.

"Well, I say that the Democratic Party changed. The Democratic Party today was not the party it was in 2000. It's not the Bill Clinton-Al Gore party, which was strong internationalists, strong on defense, pro-trade, pro-reform in our domestic government. It's been effectively taken over by a small group on the left of the party that is protectionist, isolationist and basically will --and very, very hyperpartisan. So it pains me. I'm a Democrat who came to the party in the era of President John F. Kennedy. It's a strange turn of the road when I find among the candidates running this year that the one, in my opinion, closest to the Kennedy legacy, the John F. Kennedy legacy, is John S. McCain."

And yes some conservative Democrats will vote for McCain - but it's not because they left the party, it is because the party left them.

Great blog Goz!

Joe Lieberman is a conservative Democrat but unfortunately he is still a little too liberal for me. He is by far the best one I have seen. He is right on the mark. Too many national Democrats have slid to the left so much that I feel their crediblity is gone. Compared to most democrats Lieberman is a fascist dictatorial type. The good news is many local democrats and some state democrats are very much conservative. I don't know too much about Ted Strickland but so far he has been pretty good democrat for Ohio's governor. But Ted Kennedy? No way. Thanks for your comment Brown's fan.

ANSWER TO ANONYMOUS: In today's United States, the labels, "Liberal Republican" and "Conservative Democrat" are oxymorons.

The ideals and beliefs of the modern Democratic Party are Morally Liberal and Socially Communistic. Their mantra is "Rely on the Government." "Bigger Government is Better." "Keep the Government in and throw God out."

While the ideals and beliefs of the modern Republican Party are Morally Conservative and Socially Individualistic. "Rely on oneself" and "Keep the Government Small and OUT of our Lives" "God Bless America" are common utterances.

How can you call yourself a conservative or liberal and belong to, or swear allegiance to a party that is opposite of your beliefs?

You can't.

That's the problem with todays' America. To many of us are Rebublicans or Democrats first then Americans. If we voted based on our ideals instead along party lines, America would be a different place, neither Obama or McCain would be the next president and we would truly reclaim our nation.

ANSWER TO BROWNS FAN: You and I are obviously close to the same age. I agree that both parties have shifted towards the left during our lifetime. So much that if President Kennedy, who was both a fiscal conservative and a social moderate, was alive today, he would be a Republican.

ANSWER TO GOZREHT: The closest Joe Lieberman got to being a conservative was when he voted for the war in Iraq. The rest of his voting record slants way to the Liberal side.

After proof-reading this comment, I realized that it sounded harsh. Please, accept my apology if it does. I was just stating the cold facts which usually rubs some people the wrong way.

Sh'ma,

Shalom. I hope I am addressing you correctly. Forgive me if I am not. You have great points. You bring it home and explain why I can not vote for Democrats. Even the conservative type (is that a better term?) can't leave their base and vote their conscience. They all go with their party lines. Thank you for your comment.

Hazak, hazak, v'nit'chazek!

Just heard on the net that the Democrats had to go to a republican to have someone open the convention up with a word of prayer. I guess they couldn't find any democrat who could do it. The young minister said yes at first but then backed out of it siting reasons that he didn't want it to be misconstrued as an endorsement. Well, at least the DEMs tried to open it up with prayer.

BTW, I did disagree a little with liberal Repubicans and Conservative Democrats as being oxymorons. It would be close! But I feel there are some good democrats (notice the small d), just like there are some rotten republicans.
